iPhone 4 News

The hype about the iPhone 4 still continues as it still has to reach more people overseas and that is expected to create even more hype. Apple reports that in 3 days, the iPhone has hit nearly 2 million sales! We thought the iPad was huge for Apple but the iPhone is proving to be even bigger! But given the fact the iPhone 4 was released in Britain, Germany, France and Japan could be partially why it sold faster than the iPad. Since the iPad started off only in the U.S. According to Steve Jobs this is the most productive and successful product launch in their history of products.

The problem with this fact might be that some people waiting in lines for hours, didn't get a chance to get the new iPhone due to supplies running out. There seems to be no delay in release across overseas. As there was when the iPad was being sold. The iPad is said to be released in more countries during middle to late July. Hopefully the problem with the antenna's is fixed by then and Apple claim this is due to a software issue, and should be fixed with an update. The update which might be called iOS 4.1 has not been released yet but should be soon.

On the other hand rumours are coming showing us that Apple might be switching to Verizon for people living in the US! This is great news and the fact this might affect AT&T in terms of sales. Rumours say Apple might switch early next year. Again this is just a rumour and we aren't sure if this is true. But it would be quite nice, and will be a more successful move for Apple.

NEW YORK - JUNE 24: The new iPhone 4, which went on sale this morning, is displayed at the flagship Apple Store on Fifth Avenue on June 24, 2010 in New York City. People waited outside of stores overnight to be first in line when doors opened at 7 a.m. in New York and at 8 a.m. local time in Germany, Japan, France and the United Kingdom. The iPhone 4 will cost $199 for a 16-gigabyte version and $299 for a version with 32 gigabytes of storage. (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)

iOS 4.1 coming?

There is one reason why some people don't tend to buy a product right on the release and that is because of the fact it might contain flaws. That is no different for the iPhone 4, we had spoken of the fact the new technology with the antenna's on the outside, Apple would re-invent the way phones would work. But that deemed to be a failure as the antenna's on the outside cause reception issues when held to talk. Apple though claims that this might not be a hardware issue but more of a software issue... We thought that due to this issue we could be seeing a recall. The lower left of the case when held is what causes the reception issues but that is the way most people hold their phones.

Apple is currently selling their bumper which covers the antennas and protects the glass of the iPhone 4 but that itself is $29 and is ridiculous. Well customers complain against that fact because to be honest not everyone wants a bumper to be on their iPhone's. All I can tell you is this update will be rushed because Apple want's to get rid of this problem as soon as possible. We might see this update for iPhone 4 users next week.

The software update is said to help the iPhone baseband calibration problem, currently the phone supports  850MHz and 2100MHz.

Stay tuned for news on the iPhone 4 in the future.

Apple iPhone 4 issues

The iPhone was just released a few days ago with many people giving positive reviews on the new phone. But one problem is with the antenna's being on the outer shell of the iPhone. When Steve Jobs, unveiled the new design everyone thought that it was a remarkable design and that it would be a whole new look for phones in the future. Well... that great design has caused a lot of problems for people when especially holding the iPhone with their left hand cause the signal to go all the way down. It also tends to happen to users who hold it with their right hand as well but it remains a bigger concern to left hand users. "Geez, Apple you gotta think about left hand people, too you know..." (Not that I am a left handed person) Apple are hearing the noises of consumers out loud and Steve Jobs started to respond to email's asking that same question about reception, but the answer given was to get a case for your iPhone and that indeed isn't a very smart response and might annoy some customers. The trauma also goes on about how AT&T is terrible and that Apple should move to Verizon and I still don't get why Apple isn't doing that? They will get more iPhone's sold (even more than how many they have sold now through AT&T) and it will make consumers happy, Some even complain AT&T does not provide service to their homes! Moving to Verizon will give Apple even more positive reviews but that might be the end of AT&T if Apple does move to Verizon. Also if reception issues are not enough some iPhone 4 users spotted a yellow blemish underneath their iPhone 4 screens. Though the problem was resolved because of the fact that Foxconn had made the production of the iPhone 4 too quickly and wanted them to get to U.S. as early as possible. The yellow blemish will disappear though in about a week and it helps especially if the screen is on.

Well since it is an electronic product, you can expect minor issues but with Apple they get resolved very quickly. The iPhone 4 is yet another step and has made a good start to sales in the U.S. other countries should start receiving the iPhone next month and the white model will also be released next month in the U.S.

Apple iPhone 4

The new iPhone is here and delivery was a day earlier than expected and that is always welcome, especially when there is an Apple product released! The new iPhone 4 was released to everyone yesterday and it was shipped in black, the white model is said to be released next month. Everyone who has one right now say the new iPhone is just elegant and the fact that almost every part of it is made up of glass! It is the slimmest smartphone on the market and is considerably faster than the 3GS. The sim tray slot is now on the side as opposed to when it was on the top for the older iPhone's. The new retina display does an excellent job at displaying clear and concise text. Just be aware the surface is really glossy and you might want to get a screen protector and case because it has good chances of being scratched up and being smudged on with finger prints. There were also many tests taken using Face Time and people claim it is very clear and concise to understand and communicate, thank fully if that feature were on the AT&T platform the experience might have been a whole different one and I am not saying that's a bad or a good thing.

As usual the packaging of Apple is minimalist and they continue to be Eco friendly, the new iPhone looks a bit longer than the older ones but the display is the same size.

Here the staff at Cnet, give us a look at the new iPhone 4:

A look at Microsoft Office for Mac 2011

We had talked about the fact Office for Mac will be coming and today people got to expereince the new Office suite for 2011 and all I can say is that it has got a pretty impressive make over and seems to me the new design resembles more features and looks identical to Office 2010 for Windows. I wasn't really fond of the toolbar which popped up on Office 2008 for Mac but hopefully Microsoft think that through this time. Also included in 2011 are more web app tools making team work through the net easy for people to share documents and files. The new "ribbon" interface will feature on the 2011 version which I am quite fond of and like a lot. Mac users who are used to the PC will not have a hard time adjusting to the new Mac platform.  Hopefully that should replace the external toolbar. The name for Microsoft's e-mail client was "Entourage" and now should be changed to "Outlook" for Mac and supports .pst file imports. Outlook is a Web service tool which is used on Windows but now will use the "Cocoa" platform to support Mac OSX. Outlook is also known for it's safety features from preventing sensitive information to making sure that everyone has permission to view the file. The features sound great and they say it should be here later this year.

Pricing has always been high compared to iWork but then again you get more features in Microsoft Office such as "Outlook" and also "Microsoft Messenger" we are not sure what the price is right now but once that is determined you can find the information right here!

For now, Senior editor: Scott Stein from Cnet gives us a look at the much anticipated Office for Mac 2011:

iOS 4 is here!

Well, it's the news everyone wanted and that is the fact iOS 4 will be released today at 1PM EST time and around 10AM PST this is great news for iPhone and iPod Touch users because the new update will mean folders, backgrounds, multitasking and even more. Though all the features of iOS 4 will work on 3rd gen iPod Touch's and iPhone 3gs along with iPhone 4. Only device it won't work on is the iPod Touch 1st gen and the original iPhone.

Stay Tuned!

UPDATE

I have just installed iOS 4 on my 2nd Gen iPod Touch and have to say it looks much more slicker than ever before and the dock also looks really nice and the folders applications is very nice as well. The settings have also changed quite a bit with the ability to add a background. For the most part Apple servers worked well today with minimum lag and the update requires that you have iTunes 9.2 many people complained for that fact because they didn't bother updating! It took a while because of the fact this update had quite a lot of new features. I will talk about more later after I get a much better look at the new iOS 4, for now to update make sure you have iTunes 9.2 and that you sync your iPod and click Update. This update is free and works for iPod Touch 2g, iPhone 3g (With minimum features not applicable) and iPhone 3gs, iPod Touch 3rd gen. the iPad release will be here soon so stay tuned.

Apple iPhone 4 Unlocked for Canada

People living in Canada there is real good news for you because of the fact the iPhone 4 can be purchased without a contract and is fully unlocked! Another great reason as to why living in Canada is a good thing! No news on whether the iPhone will be unlocked in the U.S. but Apple is so far leaving the iPhone 4 with AT&T. Everyone wonders what is wrong with AT&T and why Apple even decided to team up with them. On the first day of pre-orders of the iPhone 4 AT&T had a really hard time getting people's order through because of all the traffic on their servers. Some users who were at the checkout ended up getting their order cancelled and many credit card numbers had been lost. So much for AT&T... The pre-orders were only for the Black iPhone 4 and we believe the White iPhone will be up for sale in stores. Also the release date was also delayed due to huge demand and in the U.S. we are looking at around July 18th. No real news as to when the iPhone will be hitting Canada but it will be hitting four other asian countries after it is released in the U.S.

That's it for today, stay tuned for more news only on 1-Mac.

Mac OSX 10.6.4 Update

Apple has released an update to their OS today and you can download it through their website or using the Apple logo on the top left hand corner and clicking Software Update... I was looking on their site and noticed that there is a different update separate for Mac mini users and that if you do use a Mac mini then that should be the update for you! This update is for the Mac mini's from the Mid 2010 range and that means the new ones released today. We doubt many people have one right now but if you do then this update is for you!

New Mac mini released!

Today Apple had quietly released the new Mac mini and no one really expected it to be this recent and it looks quite different and is the first redesign in five years! The chassis is now made fully with aluminum and it now features 4 usb ports, FireWire 800 port, Ethernet, SD Card Slot, HDMI port and audio in and audio out. This is a significant update as many people wanted a full HDMI port so it could be easy to hook it up to any TV with ease. The design is 1.4 inches thin, rather than the old one being 2 inches and it seems to be really easy to be user replaceable with hard drives and memory, through the bottom padding. The Processor standard is 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2gb ram and 320gb Hard drive alongside with an nVidia 320m graphics chip. The Mac mini also features no more huge power bricks this model has no power brick which is really quite nice and the price it starts at is $699 USD which is $100 more but could be quite expensive. At one point where Apple had made the Mac mini to be cheap could now end up being on the expensive side for some. The design looks really identical to either the Apple TV or Time Capsule.

Will the new Mac mini sell? We can't tell yet and there are still flaws to be found in this redesign. Also there is a server model of this Mac mini with a 2.66ghz processor and 7200rpm drive which is much faster than the previous hard drives and the price for that stays at $999. That is the main news for now and also iPhone 4 pre-orders are today!

Here is a video of me providing an overview of the new Mac mini:

Apple TV rumoured for $99

The Apple TV is due for a refresh soon and this time we found rumours of an Apple TV costing only $99 and it is said to be running on cloud storage meaning data will be stored on the internet. But it might have a 16gb SSD storage inside, by the looks of this technology Apple will look to making the Apple TV even smaller as they usually do with some of their devices. The OS will also set to be for a refresh and to be frank we are kind of tired of the standard UI which looks like Front Row but this next Apple TV might have iOS 4 as it's next OS. This might mean apps for the Apple TV? and an even better looking UI. This brings up lots of questions.

If the Apple TV comes with the app store bundled with the iOS 4 then this could be excellent and could be the first for a tv to come with over a million apps. Though it won't be touch screen and we suppose there will be separate apps for the Apple TV. So far no evidence has been found whether this rumour could be true but this looks to being a good step and might make me want to buy an Apple TV, this will sure to impress everyone and I think Apple are going into the right direction with the Apple TV.

More Apple news to come soon, stay tuned.

A look at iOS 4

Now in previous posts, I had talked about all the feature of iOS 4 in this video I made I will take you through a bit of what we can expect from iOS 4 and some compatibility issues with Apple devices. Also be sure to look out on some other YouTube channels I mention throughout this video and hopefully you enjoy! Comment, rate and subscribe!

A demo on Safari 5

As we had talked about in previous posts, Apple has released Safari 5 and so far I am liking it and I made two videos to show you guys what I think of it and some of the new features, that you can find on it. I couldn't figure out the reader feature in the first video so I added that in the second video. Hope you enjoy the video and the recording of the video was used from the mic on my new webcam and so far it sounds quite decent, hope you enjoy the videos:

Unboxing HP Deluxe Webcam

This isn't much of an Apple news but I just recently bought this great webcam and it was around $50, it features a 12MP still image resolution with a 2.0 megapixel video camera sensor. The label on the packaging says it's only Window's Vista compatible but I have tried it with OSX and it works just fine. The other install disk that comes with it just makes neat effects which didn't come in much use for me but overall I really like this webcam and here is a video of me unboxing it:

Apple Safari 5 download

For people who use Safari as their browser you might want to update as Apple released a new Safari 5 yesterday and performance wise it seems a bit faster and the blue loading bar is back as it was on Safari 3 but for the most part the UI looks the same.

Here is the download link: Apple Safari 5 Browser

Apple unveils iPhone 4 at WWDC

Well, we all were expecting this and it wasn't a huge surprise that Apple would release the next iPhone today and it looks just like the leaked images we saw before the one with the man in Vietnam and then the other one found in the bar. The design is 24% thinner than it's predecessor and it is said to be the slimmest smart phone ever. The backing and front is made of glass and don't forget the two cameras! The resolution is also superb at 940x640. The new screen on the iPhone 4 is known as a "Retina Display" and features over 320ppi. Battery life for 3G talk is 7 hours, 3G internet browsing 6 hours, 10 hours of video and wifi along with 40 hours of music. The wifi antenna now is 802.11n which is far superior the the a/b/g series. The camera which used to be 3.2 megapixels is now 5 megapixels and the other camera for shooting video supports 720p/ HD movie shooting. The A4 processor which I tried on the iPad worked really well and we are going to see that same processor on the iPhone!

Apart from all that goodness Apple also has an iMovie app for the iPhone! This shocked me because of the fact that iPad doesn't have that feature yet but iPhone does. This will be great for editing movies with features of a desktop software on a smart phone. But it is said to cost $4.99 in the app store. "FaceTime" is a new feature offered for the front facing camera that offers wifi only usage to do video calling.

Remember how we had heard about iPhone OS 4 it will now be called iOS 4 and it has all the great features we know and love but with a different name. This allows you to switch from Safari to using Bing as your search browser.

The iPhone 4 is said to be launched on June 24th in the U.S. and later worldwide. The pricing is $199 for 16gb and $299 for 32gb, same prices as the 3GS but with more features. It will be offered in two colours black and white. Also there seems to be no 64gb model yet... but maybe in the future. The 3GS will still remain priced at $99 while the 3G will be completely wiped out from the lineup.

Apple expected to debut Safari 5 at WWDC

With the WWDC around the corner, there are a lot of rumours going on that new stuff might be unveiled, things with the new iPhone and also supposedly a newer version of Safari which is said to be 25% faster than Safari 4 when using JavaScript. Also a new Safari reader is said to be introduced, to view content from the web. There will also be many new HTML 5 features. Bing is also introduced with a Bing Search option. There is also said to be more new keyboard shortcuts. The toolbar at the top will have new privacy setting buttons, top sites and history switching buttons and an improved functionality of the search bar. Cache and cookie functionality is also improved offering more space to store sites, therefore they would load faster the next time you visit the same webpage. Those are just some of the features once it is released we will take a better look! For now that is the main information.

Apple WWDC - June 7 -11th

Get ready everyone! Apple is having their annual developers conference and this is the time where all the engineers at Apple Inc. give tips and tricks to the over 5000 people who are app developers! This means that apps on the app store should be much better and thanks to these sessions, people can enjoy great apps on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Right now all tickets are sold out! That isn't a surprise as Apple are known for providing great sessions to other developers. If you are an Apple app developer this should be something you shouldn't miss as everything learned throughout the four days can prove to be handy in the future and plus there is no one bigger than the actual engineers at Apple who can provide learning sessions!  This will look to being an enriching experience for everyone as not only do you learn a lot, it also is a lot of fun with all your peers! There is also no doubt why the tickets for WWDC were sold out this year and that is because of the new iPhone OS 4.0 and the iAd campaign which has brought in many more developers!

Google switches to either Mac or Linux OS

Google the most gigantic company on the internet announced recently that they would start getting rid of Windows computers after many incidents and security concerns over Microsoft, it's not a surprise because I also expected for Google to use the most powerful yet secure computers to make all their software. After the hacking incident they had found in China, Google is thinking of removing their web browser from China for good. But this hacking incident leads back to Microsoft and their security. We will have to see whether Google will move to Mac or Linux, in my opinion both these Operating System's are very stable and secure. Using Linux though will save them more money throughout the company than using Mac. But at this stage using either one of these OS' and not Windows is a good decision.

We should hopefully see a drop in security concerns because many people in the world use Google's products and they expect the best. We don't know yet whether Apple will release a much more stable OS but we think Google has had enough of Microsoft, just like the incidents between Apple and Adobe.
